Recently came across a blogger blog (Google owned blogging platform that is now out of favour) and thought it would be an easy / cheap / cost effective idea to convert the blogger blog into a wordpress ‘industry standard’ blog that could potentially feature Google Ads to earn the blogger a good passive income. This is how the conversation went:
[Delicious to Blogger] We have been working with a business owner in the dive industry for a few years now (website design and SEO) and she directed me to your blog recently for something and I thought it would be a good idea to offer you the option of changing your blog to an industry standard blog, we can transfer all your posts ./ comments / photos and ensure you maintain the ‘power’ of your existing site by redirecting the old one to the new one. After this new site has been indexed and accepted by Google as an authority site you could monetise the site by allowing Google Ads on it that would earn you a passive income. If you decide why not then please tell us as blogger is a dead / dying product that is earning you nothing and cant look / work as good as a professional blog. Your thoughts are welcome.
[Blogger]  You do know you can add have adsense adverts on Blogger pages?
[Delicious to Blogger] not often I am made to feel stupid but obviously you can now monetise a blogger page (i just checked) – this has changed since I last went on a blogger site (had one years and years ago) – just to prove we are not talking out of tern or trying to preach to the converted we run a diving website that is ranked top 3 internationally for ‘uber’ competitive search term ‘PADI IDC’ the site is www.idc-guide.com if you want to see our implementation of adsense Google Ads on a site.
[Blogger]  Ok give me some ideas of costings for a full blogger page to wordpress website conversion. To give you an idea about myself I have been working with websites for 10 years and run a dive shop that ranks in the top few for the last 10 years for such  competitive keywords as “Thailand Diving”, “Phuket Diving”, etc Adsense we think is not a good way to make money unless you have a HUGE number of visitors. I do use Adsense but not on my Blog and have no intention of using it on that blog. I make money in other ways from my blog(s). I have several…. A guy who came in our dive shop some years ago announcing that his website was great and ranked No.3 on Google for “Diving in Thailand” so we really really should pay him for advertising. He had failed to notice that our website ranked No.1 for the same term. Also, I own a dozen or so dive related url’s and our company has 3 active sites.
[Delicious to Blogger] Thanks for reply. The search term ‘Thailand Diving’ has 18,100 global searches per month in Google so yes agreed thats very competitive. Also agree that Adsense is not the best way to earn an income but it does hurt any income stream to have some money coming from Google – I am now trying to place you as I think I was aware of you when I was living / working in Phuket (ran Dive Community in 2006-2007 and very nearly bought it) anyway well done for ranking highly for that search term. We have worked on 4 Phuket dive websites now and know how competitive it is. Will work on a costing to convert your blogger site to a wordpress website.
