Search engines use complex calculations to work out where in its search results a webpage will be positioned for a specific term and this goes for  for every web page for every search term. These mathematical formulas are called ranking algorithms. Although search engines don’t reveal the exact algorithms, our seo programs are designed to make your website as ‘visible’ to the search engines as possible using recognised SEO techniques.
Although the exact ranking algorithms differ from search engine to search engine, the principle is the same for Google, Yahoo, Bing and other major search engines:
1. Search engines analyze the backlinks to your website
To get high rankings on Yahoo, Google and Bing, you need good links from related website pages that point to your site. It’s a simple principle: if page a links to page b then it is a recommendation from page a to page b. The more links point to your website, the better your rankings.
The quality of the links is also important. A link that contains the keyword for which you want to have high rankings in the link text (anchor text) is better than five links with the text “click here”. A link from a website that has a related topic is better than links from unrelated sites.
2. Search engines analyze the contents of your web pages
In addition to the links, Google also analyzes the content of your web pages. Google’s technology analyses the full content of a page and factors in fonts, subdivisions and the precise location of each word.
Google also analyses the content of neighboring web pages on your site to ensure the results returned are the most relevant to a user’s query. To get your webstie on Google’s first result page, you have to optimise all factors that can influence your rankings.
3. Search engines put your web pages into context
Before a page of your website gets a high ranking for a particular keyword, Google also analyzes the content of other web pages on your site to ensure that your web page is really relevant to the topic.
That means that you must optimise different pages of your website for different keywords. The keywords should be related to the same topic. The more pages of your website your optimise for keywords about a particular topic, the more likely it is that your website will get high rankings on Google for a keyword that is related to that topic.Search engines also use other factors to rank web pages but more of that later ………….
