Often get emails and phone calls saying things like “We dont appear to be getting many web inquiries recently, and almost no inquiry forms sent from the website compared with how we were doing 1/2 years ago”. Well what can I say? If you dont maintain your website it will begin to perform at a lower level than it did previously, your competitors continue to innovate and improve their websites and SEO and eventually if you just stand-still you will be overtaken in the SEO race.
As its almost the start of the new calendar year and 2011 is about to start you maybe thinking about giving your website a boost, if you are interested our SEO project then give us a call as we aim to improve your ranking and visitor numbers dramatically over the 3 month project period. Your ranking would be measured using 4-9 different search terms that we initially choose for you after taking into account your goals and the popularity of the search terms. The cost of the 3 month SEO project is from £800 to £900 with no monthly commitment afterward, plus if you take our SEO project will reduce the cost of webcopy (text on your website) and any blog building or maintenance by 10%. If you decide you want to increase your rankings / visitor numbers and website standing / popularity then having professional webcopy and a blog put on your site is a good option for you when combined with a SEO project.
When you initially approach a company for a SEO quote you will find that most of them will throw your website address into a program that scans your site then they tell you they can rank you for £x per month. We have used all those software programs and never once actually got all the information that is required to do SEO properly. SEO is about using lots of resources to investigate your current website and the competition but shouldn’t be relied upon and there is no quick fix or easy answer to SEO, it takes a holistic view of your website and the competition to know how to encourage the search engines to increase your rankings.
An example 5 minute review we recently done on a client’s website included the following observations. There are technically no problems with your website but looking at the website code we found that:
1. There are no important search terms / keywords on the home page.
2. There is no website stats / Google Analytics tracking code installed
3. The description and H1 tags are not consistent.
4. Pages are not optimised individually
5. Very few links from other sites.
All of the above will have a knock on effect to your ranking. There are on-page and off-page factors involved in getting ranked and maintaining rank. We recently completed a full SEO report for a block paving company, it was 18 pages and after we implemented the changes, it immediately (within 2 weeks) helped with ranking, traffic and conversions.
You will always find SEO companies that claim to know how to do whatever it takes to improve your ranking and those who promised ‘first page rankings’ but all too often you will end paying a huge monthly fee while getting a really poor service or no service at all! You have to be realistic about your current SEO position and the competitiveness of your market as if you only expect to pay £50 a month then this will not give you any increases in results or any real value as the person or company that would be doing the work for you would be spending approximately one hour a month on your website.
I haven’t looked at any of your rankings but just looking at the three things above I can say that the text on the website will need some tweaking as well as advising on things like adding a blog to your website to help with ranking.
We have a guide price for our SEO project but that always is the starting price you will need to pay depending on how old your website is, how competitive the business you are in and how aggressive you want to be with your marketing / SEO. We hope this helps explain our SEO process a little more and why we always insist on reviewing your site and doing a report before we give a price on SEO, no two websites are ever the same or take the same amount of time to get ranked.
