SEO Check List – here is some essentials before a website redesign is to be launched.
- 301 redirects in place for all old page URL’s and Blog post URL’s to new URL’s where different. This avoids 404 errors when visitors arrive at the site.
- Ensure all page titles and descriptions for SEO are copied over from the old site to the new site.
- Ensure all information on the contact page is identical to the current site and replicated on any local directory listings.
- Ensure Analytics is installed
- Ensure Webmaster Tools verification file is in place so connection is not lost
- Resubmit Sitemaps for Pages, Posts, Images and Video to Webmaster Tools and replace current ones
- Check site for broken links
- Ensure all Top Level Menu options link to a page and none link to a #
That is it, doesn’t sound a lot but if they haven’t though about it they will sigh when they see the list I can promise you.
