Well even though it probably doesn’t you will almost certainly be told it does, the reason being is that ‘fear’ is a great conversion factor for some website design companies that create ‘false’ and misleading points that scare website owners into believing their website has bad design / usability / content. Here is such an email, with our comments, directed to a new WordPress / responsive / lovely looking website that has no problems and is fully functional on all devices.
Dear [website owner] I hope you don’t mind me contacting you. I’m a web developer with over ten years experience and a range of satisfied clients worldwide. I’ve taken a look at the current website, and have noted a number of problems that I think you should consider fixing
The site isn’t mobile friendly – you can verify this using Google’s free Mobile Friendly Test tool. This has implications for usability, as many people browsing on mobile phones or tablets will simply leave the site rather than attempt to zoom in and scroll the different sections. The site seems to load slowly for us also. [Delicious Webdesign – It is mobile friendly and passes Google’s Mobile Friendly Test Tool, it also loads fast]
There are some design issues with the desktop version as well – for example the blurry social icons [Delicious Webdesign – complete rubbish they are standard social icons and look perfect]
The site could be better optimised for search engines – local search rich snippets for example
The general style and layout is slightly dated [Delicious Webdesign – like their marketing techniques]
Those are the problems. The good news is that it’s never been easier or cheaper to develop a full professional site to fix these problems.
I can custom build you a professional new site – based on the current style, or with a completely new style developed collaboratively, using the latest presentation & mobile-friendly techniques. Your website will reflect well your obvious experience and professionalism.
Features included are:

  • Responsive design. Your site will look great and work well on phones / tablets /normal screens. It will also pass the important Google Mobile Ready Test
  • Full range of modern design/layout techniques including smooth scrolling, fade in animations, responsive sliders etc.
  • Simple to use admin system (WordPress based), so you’ll be able to easily add/modify content on the site.  You’ll also be able to blog, if you wish – which can be very useful in terms of search engine optimisation
  • Online contact forms / Live chat support window (for better conversions)
  • Social Network  Integration
  • SEO  – the site will be built according to the best practices currently outlined by Google / Bing
  • Full setup and config on your server, plus one month’s free support after launch.

How does the design/development process work?
Building a website that will reflect your personality, experience and values, is a collaborative process. I usually split the work into 4 simple phases
1) Design: In this phase I send you a number of site mock-ups, featuring different layouts/designs/colour schemes /features. You send me feedback on what you like/dislike about them, so that I can refine the designs based on your taste and requirements. We can go through this phase a number of times until the design is exactly right for your site.
2) Development: In this phase I set up a test site on my development server, giving you full access so that you can see the site actually running. You can give feedback and we can make modifications until you’re 100% happy with the site.
3) Deployment: When you’re happy with the site, I’ll transfer the files to your server, configure the new site and load up your content. I’ll launch the site and ensure that it’s being indexed correctly in the major search engines. I’ll also set up automatic backups, Google Analytics etc.
4) Follow up: despite the development phase and testing, often it’s only in actual use that site-owners come across small problems. I offer one month’s free support after the launch of the site to make sure that any issues you may run into get resolved.
How does it work, getting my site redeveloped by you?
It’s easier than it sounds. 90% of my clients are based outside Essex  (from Australia and the US through to mainland Europe and South Africa), so I’m well used to it. During the project I’m available by phone / email / Skype / chat to keep you updated.
How and when do I have to pay?
You pay only when the  site is finished to your satisfaction. You can pay by Paypal or Electronic Funds Transfer. The project is fixed-price, and I ask for no upfront payment.
What Support do you offer?
My aim is to provide you with a simple to use site, that is easy to manage. Common webmaster tasks like backing up the site and updating software will be taken care of automatically. Having said that, particularly at the start, most webmasters need a bit of support. I offer one month’s free support after the launch of the site – a period which will allow you to become fully confident in using your admin panel. I am always available for further paid support if necessary.
What Clients Have Said About My Work
“They created my new website which went live at the end of last year and is already getting far more hits than my old site. He was great to work with, professional, timely, creative and incredibly patient”
“They delivered excellent results, on time, offered good follow up and explanation and worked well with me – even though I requested many changes. We worked together until we got the site right. It is a work in progress continually but the results are terrific”
“They are great to work with. I appreciate his integrity, depth of knowledge, attention to detail, and determination to get the job done right. He is that rare person whose own internal standards guide his work to a higher level than I would know enough to ask for. “
If you’d like to discuss the possibilities further, with no obligations please feel free to contact me by responding to this mail. I’m also happy to telephone you to discuss, if that would suit better. I’d be delighted to answer any questions you may have.
I do hope this offer is of interest, and apologise in advance if the mail is unwelcome.
