[Website Owner] Hi, I am interested in having a website done. Could you please tell me how much you will charge me to design a basic website package of about 5 pages. How much will the hosting be and will my website be fully responsive to all devices, mobiles and tablets. I will be very interested in having our products rank highly in google when they are searched for, is this something you can do? If you could give me as much information as possible that would be great.
I specialise in flower arrangements for weddings, funerals and other occasions and would like a website to promote my business and to sell my products online. I will provide a link to a website that I like the look of and would like something similar if possible. I am not really sure how it all works apart from what I have researched online so any information you can give me would be great.
I would like my customers to be able to purchase my products online using a debit/credit card.  Have you completed any websites that you can show me similar to what I am looking for to give me an idea of what you can do for me. I do have photos of all my products that I can give you.
[Website Designers 21] Thank you for getting in touch. The cost depends on what you want the website to do i.e. sell products, blog, etc. You mention a 5-page website but you also say you will have products. Is that 5 pages including or excluding the product pages?
We specialise in web design and also getting your website to the top of Google. Getting your website ranked highly is called SEO and this is carried out on a monthly basis. If you could give me some more information on what your website is for that would be great.
For an online shop I can do one which uses an existing agreed design for between £750 – £1000
You could choose from the following designs and of course the links/text and images could be changed. I would need you to provide the different images of the floral arrangements you can do so we can upload these onto the website.
You would need to provide information like the About Us page and product descriptions etc. The website would be responsive. Hosting is free for the first year and £75 thereafter. How would you be taking payments online? CC or PayPal. PayPal is cheapest to integrate. CC on your site costs about another £300 as you need extra security set up on your site plus yearly costs involved. (not to me but direct to a payment transaction company like Worldpay.
[Website Designers 22]  Thanks you for your enquiry and my apologies for not getting back to you sooner (I was on holiday last week in sunny Ibiza but back now)  We would need a little more information before quoting accurately but I can certainly give you an indication of how we would approach the project:
What you need?
It’s all about finding out what you need from your site.
Are you selling a product? Are you trying to attract future leads? Is it more of a brand awareness exercise?
Our service
Our aim is to give you the best solution to meet your needs. We sit down with you and work out your requirements. What makes you different to your competition? Who is your target audience?
Once we know your business we can design a marketing plan of the products you need to be successful – your website is normally just one product in your plan. Our prices start at £2,000 but we look to build longer relationships with our clients where we provide an ongoing service – so it’s imperative we give you something you actually need not just a quick fix solution.
If this is the answer you were looking for – and we sound like the kind of business you want to work with then let me know and we can arrange a meeting a call to discuss the projects further.
How to get to your customers? I think the first point of call would be to look at your target audience. Who is looking for your service and what would they be searching for? And you are already thinking this way. Weddings, Funerals and special occasions. But rather than group them all together let’s separate them out and focus on them individually.
Wedding Example
So if i was to put myself in the place of one of you potential customers what would i search for? “Wedding florists in Leeds”. Then what I would want to see is a website specialising in Wedding Florist based in Leeds. The other events can be linked from the site but it makes it a very clear message. It sounds simple but it’s this understanding that will ensure that your site ultimately turns viewers into customers.
Tools for sales
Well it goes without saying that you’ll need a website that showcases your products looking at their best but this is just one tool that you might require. You’ll probably need to advertise online – this can be done through AdWords and hopefully means you will be turning up on page one of Google for key search terms. But you don’t want to always have to pay for customers – so that’s where SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) comes in. This is technical amends to your site so that you turn up higher in the listings but this takes time to have an effect. There are also a number of other tools you could need to promote your products including printed literature and even planning for events such as wedding shows.
What’s next
This whole process isn’t for us to add money to what we charge but to ensure we give you a product that is valuable to you as a business. It might be that after a chat that we conclude that actually just a nice looking but basic website is the way forward and then link it to Google places and your phone could be ringing off the hook.
Either way the next step is to discuss your project and requirements further. Where are you based? We are just on the outskirts of Essex. Are you able to call in or we can come to see you? Alternatively, we can always have a chat over the phone.

Thank you for your enquiry. We would need to discuss details of your website first before I can give you accurate price. When are you available please for a quick chat? As a general rule of thumb our ecommerce solutions cost £2,000 – £3,000 depending on complexity of features required.
Some things you need to think about:
1, Shipping area (whole UK or certain area only?)
2, Shipping postage calculations (per item, per order, per weight)
3, Payments taken on website (PayPal, Online Merchant ID)
[Website Designers 24]
Our costs for the design and development of a 5 – 7-page website start at £750.00. Let me know if that is of any interest or if you have any other questions. To answer your questions, and give you some more ideas of relevant costing the price I gave you originally is for a standard portfolio site for a business that does not contain a CMS (content management system) which would allow you to login and update content and images etc yourself.
If you wanted a system that would allow you to update the site then our prices start at £1000.00  and we would use a system called WordPress (a powerful and popular CMS – Content Management System) to power the site for you. As for people paying on the site you have two main options really, if you want to handle card transactions on the site then the prices are different, our base price for an e-commerce site is £4000.00 or if you want to just have something simpler like a “Buy Now” button using the PayPal service then we just add a setup fee of £175.00.
Lastly if you want the site to be Responsive which is where a site will adapt its layout and sizing depending on the device being used to view it such as a smart phone or tablet we charge an additional design fee of £700.00 to cover this work. All our websites work across platforms but the Responsive design enhances usability on mobile. Hopefully that gives you an idea of our costs, let me know of you have any further

Can I please see the URL of your current site? If this has been built on the WordPress platform, this is something we could redesign – otherwise we would have built a new site. Cost entirely depends on the size and complexity of the project. I would need to see what you currently have before I give can give a quote.
Regarding SEO – this is our main business, so we can definitely rank you. Again, the cost varies of the competitiveness / number of keywords. The benefit with going with us for web design initially – is that we will build / rebuild the website with SEO in mind to ensure you get the best results possible
A site like the one listed is fairly simple. Are you interest in an ecommerce functionality? (Basically, allowing people to buy the flowers through the site). From the looks of this website example, they just list the flowers with prices – and people will call or email to order.
If you follow their model – it will be cheaper, but it’s not particularly intuitive for the user.
Implementing an online store makes the whole process of buying easier for the customer, but it increases the complexity of the website due to the backend system allowing you to take payments. Do you have good quality photos of the flowers you sell we would be able to use?
No worries. As an example of an ecommerce website we have completed, take a look at our website portfolio. Generally, the cost for this type of website starts around £900 – due to the additional complexity of having a backend system to take payments. This price can scale dependant on the amount of products / size of the website. Do you know how many products you will be selling?
[Website Designers 26] I had a look at the link and it’s a nice simple to use website but in today’s market it’s not responsive which your website would be as most potential customers now use mobile or tablet.
We offer the full design and development service, making sure you approve every stage of design and full training and support going forward. You will be supplied with all different quotes and prices, but in the end its about sales and our websites get found on Google and take money. We start from £3,500 dependant on functionality required. Please let me know if you would like to discuss further and maybe set up a meeting.
[Website Designers 27] Yes we can certainly help you achieve all of those goals. With regards to the design side, all of our sites are fully bespoke and we don’t use templates. We find this gives us much better results on Google and also for conversions.
Our sites are fully responsive and can be edited by yourself, if required. Typical costs are from £2500 depending on your exact requirements.
We are a Google partner and specialise in Adwords and SEO, so can help you get to the top of Google for your keywords. We’d need to discuss what it is you do and what your keywords are before we can give you a price on your promotion.
We don’t have any contracts so you aren’t tied in to use us for a set period.
With regards to hosting, typically hosting costs are around £70 per year through us, however you are free to choose any hosting provider, you don’t have to use us. I hope that helps and look forward to discussing the project further. We will need to spend some time on the phone going through some questions and then we can put together a proposal for you.
When is a good time to talk?
The best place to look at some of our work is our portfolio page, it has a selection of some of the projects we have provided customers with.

Thank you for your enquiry.  I would be more than happy to discuss your requirements either over the phone or to book a meeting as we don’t quote without firstly discussing the brief in detail. If you could email me your phone number I can give you a call to explain how the web design and development process works.  Out of interest, what’s the name of your florist and where are you located?
Thank you for contacting us with your request.  I have tried to call you but it goes directly to your voice mail.  Please kindly give me a call when you are free to discuss your requirements in more detail. Sadly, there is no such thing as a normal or standard website – every website we build is different and because we work to an agreed fixed budget, we need to make sure we fully understand what you need.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thank you for getting back to me.  I have checked the website one cannot order on-line.
01: Would you like users to be able to place orders on-line?
02: What is your budget for the website?  Minimum spend with us would be £750.
03: If users are ordering on-line – do you need to control inventory (stock)?
I do have a few more questions – hence the need for a phone call.
You will find you’ll get lots of various quotes that appear to be for the same thing, and it can be difficult to compare like-for-like.  It generally comes down to the approach the designer takes; for example, the amount of time spent on the design (is it a template, or is it bespoke?), the build of the site and what features you get and whether the designer adds your content for you.  This tends to be what affects the price.
If you’re on a tight budget and just need to get something up and running, we might not be the right fit for you. If you want a site that works hard for your business and actually brings you a return on your investment, and you want a designer who will work closely with you to make sure you achieve your goals, well that’s us.
The other thing to mention is that you might be better off not looking for a website to “copy” (not necessarily the design, but what it includes) but to talk to your chosen designer about what you want to achieve, and see what input they can provide, what ideas they come up with.
I hope this all helps. Let me know if you’d like to talk further.
[Website Designers 29] Many thanks for the enquiry. We have an offer on which is a 5-page website with 12 months hosting for £450. Mobile responsiveness is an extra £100. Yes we can provide Search Engine Optimisation and help about 100 local business each month with this. Prices vary depending on which search terms you wish to use. This is anywhere from £30 per month to £200 per month.
We are currently building a website for a florist, this site is still being built, but you get the idea! This is a full ecommerce website allowing people to place orders using their credit card. We can do a site like this for around £1000. A website similar to this but without ecommerce (more like a brochure website) would be £600. Would you like to pop in for a meeting to discuss further?
[Website Designers 30] OK, prices for a basic 5 page brochure (non CMS and Non Responsive) is £500. For this to be responsive you would be looking at £1200-£1500. If you wanted to add a Content Management System (CMS) then you would be looking at £2000 (5 pages)
For SEO, and yes this is something we specialise in, the set-up cost is usually £500 but could do this with a reduction of 25% for you – this includes services detailed on our website. There is an optional ongoing SEO maintenance service that we could provide to suit your budget. This is where we review results, working with analytics and make any necessary amendments and offer suggestions on how we can better the ranking.
Will you be integrating social media? Facebook, Twitter etc?
Hosting for a basic website is £99 per year, this is provided through our sister company.
No problem redesigning an existing website. Please provide further details and I will be able to give you an idea of costs.
Hope this helps – any further questions please ask
What a lovely business, we recently completed a Flower Arranging website which was a lot of fun, this particular website has an events booking functionality, is responsive in its design (so renders depending on device) and includes a CMS so that my client is able to add events, news articles etc.
For your website, I guess you would be needing to upload new products fairly frequently, so you would therefore require a CMS also. If you wish to receive online payments via PayPal, then this would be an ecommerce website, with a cart facility and running total etc. The backend/admin would be where you managed orders, invoicing etc. This type of website is more involved and you would be looking at around the £3k mark.
Here are a couple of recent ecommerce websites that we have developed. Each of these websites integrate with PayPal – the entire shopping experience remains on the website until checkout, whereby the customer is taken to PayPal to complete the order and is returned to the website.
The Florist website is actually a static html website, it is not responsive for mobile devices, is unlikely to include a CMS and is not an ecommerce site (no function to purchase on website).  For us to design a website like this is less expensive: £500 for a 5-page static website, plus £100-£150 if you required an online gallery. If you didn’t need to upload any new products on a frequent basis, then you could simply utilise PayPal’s own ‘add to cart’ buttons. This doesn’t afford the same professional look and feel and offers a very basic user experience, I guess it all comes down to your budget and what is important to you? To add PayPal’s own ‘add to cart’ buttons would be £250 for 10 products. I hope this helps – if you would like to arrange a meeting to discuss moving forward, please let me know
