Normally we encourage you to transfer your domain to us if you want us to work on your website, there is normally a strong / business decision to transfer to us, see below for the advantages and disadvantages which are our standard responses when we talk about domain registration and hosting when someone could say to us ‘Let’s stay where we are unless there are any advantages to transferring?’ we would reply:
There are in my opinion advantages to transferring but a few disadvantages, if I quickly tell you what I think then you can make a decision and we can do what you want.
Advantages on Transferring
1, You currently are registered with 123reg and hosted with xilo, with our hosting we use the ‘best’ hosting company in the UK (rated by PC Pro – September 2012) 2, Hosting is possibly cheaper, depending on your requirements (its only £45) per year after the second year.
3, We manage your database and upgrade the wordpress blog application for you when updates occur (approximately 6 updates per year) 4, One company looking after your domain registration / hosting / website design / database management 5, The hosting is flexible so if you wanted to add other applications to your website at a later date that is quicker / easier.
Disadvantages on Transferring
1, Email setup details will need to be changed (5 minute job that we can do for you / we give you instruction sheet on what to change)
2, Administration time and effort – you need to tell your existing registrar to update your IPS tag, this enables the transfer to proceed.
