Here is a detailed example snippet of some of the aspects of our website design proposals
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Search engine optimisation is required as part of the project and we will ensure that the site fully complies with “best practice” standards for optimisation. Search engine optimisation “SEO” is in essence the process of driving more traffic to your website from the major search engines, Google, Bing and Yahoo. It is estimated that over 80% of all online searches in the UK begin with a search engine. With such high competition and such a large captive audience you need a professional search engine optimisation company like dotcentric to deliver results.
SEO is an inexact science – the search engine’s ranking algorithms change from month to month (actually day to day). So we keep learning, we keep on top of the changes and work hard on your behalf to ensure your business is seen.
Typically we adhere to the following requirements:

  • All on-page optimisation including key search terms, keyword density, CSS and Tag optimisation
  • Non-textural optimisation (e.g. Alt and Title tags on images)
  • Descriptive URLs i.e. your domain.com/building-services/loft-conversions/
  • CSS and XHTML standards compliance
  • W3C compliance where applicable
  • Google Analytics implementation
  • Google Webmasters Tools implementation

Extended SEO will take into consideration Link Building, Social Media and much of the “Off Page” marketing that enables your site to climb the search engine rankings. In all instances we will ensure that your site uses Google Analytics which is the de-facto reporting tool for web traffic analysis.
Content Management
The websites will be powered by a content management tool and the main navigational elements and design of the websites will be “locked-down” by this system and the programming will not be exposed to your users. Anyone with your authorisation may update a website without technical knowledge or website design skills.
It will be the responsibility of you to add all content to the websites using the tools provided. Additionally, any photographs and images required for the creation of the website navigation will be requested by our design team and will need to be provided by you. Training will be provided to all nominated staff on how to use and get the best out of the system. A series of modules will be provided within this admin area which will include:
User Manager
Allowing you to create and manage administrators of the website administration tool.
Page Content Manager
This will include an editor which will allow you to add to and change the content of your textural website pages. You can change text and uploaded images and documents without prior design experience.
SEO / Meta Information Manager:
For each of the pages within the website it will be possible to update the meta information. The meta information consists of the title, keywords and description – all of which are used by the search engines to determine the subject matter of a page.
Technology
At Delicious Webdesign we use many different technologies to deliver a website, such as XHTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript. For dynamic websites i.e. those websites that extract data from a database we may use the Microsoft programming framework. Microsoft’s framework is recognised as the most reliable, secure and scalable framework for business applications. We also use technologies including PHP and Java and specifically the WordPress framework for smaller websites and projects.
Whilst the intention of this document is not to detail our technology framework in-depth, it is worth noting that the use of this framework enables modules of functionality to be re-used across many websites. As an example, a shopping basket or products catalogue can be developed once – to use these modules in subsequent websites only requires minor changes which enables us to reduce future costs. The other major advantage is that if a bug were to be found in a module that is used on multiple websites it would only need to be resolved once – resulting in a consistent user experience and improved reliability.
UAT Testing (User acceptance testing)
A full test plan will be provided with sufficient time made available in the overall project plan. Our internal testing will cover points such as (but not limited to):

  • All code is free from errors
  • Website functions as expected
  • Website functions as expected in all major web browsers i.e. Internet Explorer / Firefox / Chrome / Safari
  • Payment gateway is communicating correctly with appropriate banks
  • Website is optimised for the major search engines
  • Integration between the website and accounting system is functioning as expected
  • Website Submitted to all search engines

In addition to our own testing, we will make the full system available in a test environment for your own testing (any required training will be provided prior to this). The test environment will be updated with the latest updates periodically throughout the project. This will provide you with the opportunity to monitor our progress and raise any questions / concerns as they arise.
