Continuing the example design process communications:
[Website Client] Following our meeting where I came along to let you know that was unable to proceed with the copy that had been sent over to me by a copywriter that I used due to bad spelling and grammar and the marketing not meeting a standard that I would accept,  I understood we ended that conversation with two options and that I was waiting to hear from you.
My criteria for the new site was to write something equal to that on my current site, which is written beautifully, but as you pointed out had been plagiarised and therefore of no SEO value.  I believe we recognized in our meeting that the SEO value of the text is of equal importance to the marketing and grammatical element that prospective customers will be impressed by, and ultimately, driven to stay on the site and respond to by booking with me. There is no point in creating a new site if all three aspects of writing cannot be met.
The first option (which I felt was the best way to proceed) was for me to engage another writer who would write copy.  Your concern was that she may not be web savvy enough to meet all the criteria necessary for maximum SEO benefit and with this in mind you were to send an informed email for me to forward to her so her level of SEO knowledge could be established.
You said that you would like to speak with your writer, give her the feedback from my comments and see what she says, then get back to me.
I am very clear that the new site has been instigated by the need to maximise the SEO benefit so that I can drop PPC.  This is the only reason for having my site redone. As I said at our meeting am not prepared to pay for two lots of copy writing so wish I had taken your advice and used your webcopy specialist initially.
To answer your email, I haven’t contacted another webcopy specialist / friend as I haven’t had the email from yourself to pass onto her.  I am also waiting to hear from your regarding your response that you asked me to wait for.
So with all that waiting in mind, I shall wait to hear back from you!   I am very excited about my new website and feel the look you have credated is an inspired look is amazing. Once the body of the text is agreed upon, and who shall write it, then we can move on with the design.
[Essex Website Designers] Spoke to Louisa (our webcopy specialist) with reference to her producing the text for you based on the text that you got that you were not happy with and we agreed there were some areas for improvement and she could start work on the text to re-work it for you, so you so once its done will forward it to you to review if thats what you decide.
I sent you the email as I saw your facebook comment, and if you had decided not to use our webcopy then would have told Louisa not to spend anymore time on it.
Tonight we have had a review of the site with the new pages we have created and will have something for you to review tomorrow possibly
Regarding the webcopy, if I am honest I will be disappointed if you don’t want to use our in-house webcopy person for the text as I know it will benefit the site and hope we can get it right for you. Especially as we have already created the extra 1000 words ready for your project as we thought you wanted our SEO friendly webcopy. You are at liberty to make any choices obviously but know we can make websites rank highly with our webcopy and hope you use her text (even in conjunction with some extra from your Journalist friend perhaps.
I must have got our agreement wrong as I didn’t know I had to tell your journalist friend about SEO requirements of the webcopy until getting the text back from us after she re-works / re-writes it. But have done some below for you now and will sent to you.

1 add social media links (graphical facebook / twitter) to the bottom of page
2 change ‘blog’ to ‘news’
3 customise blog to that of the internal pages of the site
4 remove ‘associates’ from main menu (change to procedure) but change main order so should be: home / about / services / procedure / news / contact
5 check previous / old website to ensure we havent missed anything
6 add portfolio page with images from old site (with subsequent links to example treatments)
7 add testimonials page
8 add prices page / link (pdf link from old site)
9 include google analytics code in new pages (take from previous website)
10 check links / downloads on old site (like the ones one the testimonials pages) and include these
11 include address at bottom of each footer (see front page for harley st address)
12 removed all text from the website
13 claim then add your google places listing with the new address
14. Call to action on every page with a click link to call or e mail directly. Every page will have the contact button that will lead to the contact page and the full telephone number / email at the bottom of each page.
As point 12 states all text has been removed but you need to tell us if you want to retain this webcopy / text for use on your blog. We await your new text and will put that on the site for you when received. You need to provide us with your new business address.

1 Whats the blog for? Is that to increase seo?
2 Services – I wanted to break the services down into further sections
3 Text – We have spoken and agreed that once you have received this text you can advise as to the SEO value and we will speak as to what changes, additions are necessary to ensure the content value is the same as the current text being taken down.  I am not compromising the published SEO content in any way, just making sure the copy meets both our criteria fully.

1 Customised blog will improve your SEO if you use it regularly but this customisation is to change the look of it to match the rest of the site
2 Finding this very confusing, understand you want to delete some services but your comments need to be made clearer, I personally love these type of portfolio (text with before / after that can be enlarged)
If you want specific images on specific pages then please tell us what ones, I think the model ones may be ‘christine’ that you send previously but surely this isn’t a good place to put model photos? Much more appropriate would be
3 Yes will look at the text from an SEO point of view once its received. Obviously all text created by your other friend will be totally unique / different to the existing text so there will be value in retaining the text that’s been removed for the blog or for ensuring that each page has enough content.

Also, treatments and procedures are both in the main navigation bar, but “procedures” is on the drop down menu of Treatments, a bit confused by this.
I have been chasing my journalist for the changes I made to the copy and they should be with me Wednesday.  My scanner won’t work, so I’ll post the drawing to you that will break down how I want the portolio broken down so the person viewing can quickly go to the type of treatment that most pertains to them.  It will make sense when you see it. [Essex Website Designers] Its a shame you want us to re-design the portfolio page now after we have re-coded it in the way it was on the old site (which we think looks and works fine) but await your revision notes.
The website designer has a list of changes you and I have requested on your site and think he was going to wait for the new copy as you told us to expect it last week before starting work on the design changes and adding the copy but will get him to complete the design changes now.
The prices page is taken from your old download pdf but your amendments to that which I see are in the word document havent been done yet. should be done soon

I think ‘the procedure’ should be in the treatments drop down as its the procedure for your treatments, if you want us to change it then thats fine please tell us how you want it. Perhaps you want ‘the procedure’ on the ‘about’ drop down menu.
Received your note today in the post about the portfolio page and it does only slightly jog my memory as I have no connection with your diagram and your requests.
Your note gives us the same three services / procedures but doesn’t explain exactly what to do or what you want changed, going from left to right using my service images as an example we have:
Think you need to explain if the three sections represent 3 different web pages and if they do then tell us what you want to happen when you click the portfolio button as im not sure if you want your sections (1 and 2) on the same page and if you do I can see the woman image but not sure about the others and do they all link to the same portfolio (as they do now) or different ones as your note seems to show.
Can normally work out what people want from diagrams / instructions but having trouble here,
[Website Client] Please can you protect text so it cannot be lifted from the website. I love the idea in the example website to have the pictures stream down the page so the viewer can click on the relevant product (thinking portfolio pages).

the example site doesn’t protect text and we will not do this anyway as
1) you cannot truly protect it from being copied
2) there are more effective ways to check if someone copies your text
3) as long as your text is indexed and shown to be on your site its actually in your interest for people to copy your text as they will get penalised and never rank higher than you for that page.
portfolio page
I think this example is not relevant for your portfolio page, having multiple full page width images that link to other websites / videos or other pages is, in my opinion too arty and will not work on a functional or SEO level (image text doesnt get read). In our opinion (4 opinions asked) your current portfolio page that links to specific services and gives image examples is great as long as the text is completed for two of your clients.

Just reading through the e mail, here are comments to what isn’t included above;
Regarding “contact” – where it says contact in the top right is perfect, can it have an icon of a phone or anything? And when I click on it at the moment it has the e mail address, would the phone number be added?
At the bottom where it says e mail, phone, can you change for the little icons please?
I love the look and feel the new front page.  I don’t quite understand why the services are listed on the left as well as in the menu bar, but not sure what is set in stone and what is mock up, so lets speak.
When I said about working shots, I meant the professional shots of me working (to replace the ones in “14 step”.  I think there is enough between the first photo where I am in the photos with it showing someone a reflection in the mirror, combined with those taken by the professional photographer.
Not sure if I said this in the word document, but I would like the drop down menu’s in the main navigation  bar to be in grey scale as you have on the left “INFO” button.
I shall also scan and e mail the drawing of what I’m talking about re portfolio and hopefully that will make more sense.  I’ll do that in a few hours, have to pop out, have been working on this for a few hours now so feel I have made headway.
Webcopy –  I have copy from my lady to send over for the missing ‘about me’ text. I do not want stuff cut and paste from the old site as I think that defeats the object of a embarking on the creation of a new one. I have someone working with me tomorrow to select the new pictures I want published. Do u have someone to do any re touching necessary? If not I’ll get it done before sending over.
I won’t be using the faq copy that the first company did. I will select about 15 that I’ll get sent over. All the other stuff I typed up for faqs I’ll use for subject matter in blogs.
If you see my price list you will see how I have structured the ‘products’ I am offering, with brows having the sub headings as listed there and naturally the portfolio page needs to display these clearly. I will amend the consultation prices placement (as mentioned before).
I have been at work loads so have not had the chance to get all of the above done or look at your mail coming through. Friday, Saturday and Monday are dedicated to getting all of this done.
Can you give me feedback as to your opinion on the copy SEO value of new copy, as agreed.

There is a metric we use to measure ‘reading ease’ and your new home page and content pages have similar scores to the ones we produced. Which is good but….After a 10 minute review I consider the text ok to read but it seems the writer has attempted to squeeze in many repeating search terms and its possible that it could be classed as spamming.
There is text copied from other sites although its not much (about 5% of source page) – our text was 100% original and not copied and that’s a pre-requisite for all our text
Google PPC – You need to give me your new Google account login details please as the old ones dot work, believe the following need a Google local business account setup for them, can you supply telephone numbers for them or shall use your mobile?
I have spent about an hour trying to find the official information about having multiple accounts for one business at different addresses and have failed to find any real info apart from finding that multiple listings for the same company will get you banned (seems obvious that you should be allowed multiple entries if you work in multiple places though)
We have renamed the /new/ directory (where your redesign is taking place) and havent linked or used the /new directory on any website / directory so have no idea how it was indexed in Google, when you want to look at your website now please use this new / updated url
I have got google to schedule a removal from its search index and this has been added for removal. We have also blocked the search engines from indexing the new URL
This is a standard / normal way to build a redesign and have done this with over 100 websites but have never seen it indexed without a link being found pointing to it so its a mystery to us, needless to say when you search your company your ‘existing’ / normal website comes up

Please can you send me the copy highlighting what needs to be changed (Google reading it as non original text) so I can make necessary changes.
I have given thought to the FAQs and as I said in our recent discussion a change of direction is necessary.  I do not want to have pages of FAQs, but would rather to stick to the simple format I currently have and all the content I typed up I can use as subject matter for writing blogs.  I will not be using any of the first companies webcopy for blogs but will take my own notes to rewrite for them.
We have an issue with the FAQs being copied by other sites.  How difficult would it be to ask them to take their copy down?  I don’t want to prolong things any more than necessary, so if its quicker to rewrite what I have please let me know and I’ll sit down with someone this week and do that.  Please let me know what has been copied if that is the case.
So, I believe from my end this should complete the content you need, except the photos.  I have moved mountains with the photos as far as selection is concerned.  I shall let you know asap when I have had them cropped and colour balanced.  Then I will set a day aside to go through all your e mails and attend to the design.
Price list attached in the order I would like it displayed.  I had made a mistake before and sent you a document with the information in the wrong order.  I apologise.
Another thing, I already have a PayPal payment sent up, I think it’s my address paypal or deposits. Can you put an active PayPal button on the price list page alongside the other visa Master Card signs. I want a £50 and £100 deposit buttons so the option to pay online is available rather than the client giving me card details.  If you need any information about my account let me know and I will ask the previous website designer who set it up.
[Essex Website Designers] You need to file an Infringement notice for sites that copy your text (DMCA) but we normally phone / email first. I have stopped doing this now though as don’t have time to chase up every company that copies our text. We did find a website that copied the webcopy that we created for a client before the clients website was indexed so that was reported to Google and removed to ensure the client that paid for the webcopy didn’t get penalised. There are automatic tools for webcopy to get protected, (reported when its copied).
