Every year we get loads of website redesign requests and currently we are getting a lot of requests for making existing websites responsive and more efficient in terms of converting their existing website visitors into enquiries and orders, here is an example exchange:
[Website Owners] Can you have a look at our website and give us some suggestions about making it work on tablets / smartphone as part of a redesign? Thanks
[Website Designers] Thanks for the enquiry. We are familiar with your company and have also taken a look at your website. At first glance and a click around I can see that although cram-packed with services theres no way to easily get more information about them or book them. This would be the first place to focus. Secondly a trimmed down version of all content that essentially aligns everything you offer into a good balance of information and sales tool.
We would recommend a website re created in WordPress that also fits mobiles nicely to increase visibility and accessibility of your professional services. This would also give you a very robust industry standard CMS that you can expand with various feature as and when you wish. And no inconvenient tie ins with unreliable programmers when you wish to make updates.
Your site will require quite a bit of content assessment and organising and we would also offer to bring the site right up to daet in terms of
design.  The outcome would also enhance you search engine ranking naturally as you have indicated your website visitors are reducing year on year recently. The ball park for the above treatment will be discussed at our next meeting. Let me know if we are still meeting next week and I could progress the enquiry through to a more formalised proposal. Best regards and hope to hear back from you soon
[Website Owners] Hi guys and thank you for the quick response, my friend recommended yourselves and already I am impresssed with your quick reply and suggestions. I agree with you on what needs to be done, it is almost exactly what I had discussed with my partner.
We are looking to get the website done fairly quickly, what would be your timescale for this? The content does need to be looked at in terms of what is there, our old website designer has made us reluctant to take anything off as he has indicated that my removing content it could affect the visitor numbers and ranking of the site. Would you be able to retain the ranking with a trimmed down version? If you have any questions or need further information please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon
[Website Designers] The content might not be as bad as we think, our main issue is that no matter where you are on the website you never know where you are. This comes down to intuitive navigation such as when on a specific page then a menu item should be highlighted, right now this is not the case. Our approach would be to re create the site as is and integrate a more effective user experience throughout it.
As for Search Engine Optimisation I do hear what your existing web designer is saying and have also observed the very many pages in the site that have been given to increase the search engine’s awareness of your business. The reality behind this is that barely any users are coming into the website for a big chunk of the content available. This means that a more logical presentation of the website is required that puts the core info at the forefront and section off the less viewed content to less visible areas.
The above approach will make the site feel a lot lighter, user-friendly yet still retain the content, urls (pages) and all of the relative meta
data. With regards to time frame, if we started now we could perhaps complete the work within 2 months.
[Website Owners] Thanks for the quick response. At the moment we don’t need the website to be multilingual we can always add this later. Timeframe seems good too. Maybe you can do the formal quote for me with a breakdown of what would be done. After that we can make a decision on which company to use. If you have any questions or need further information please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon

[Website Designers]  I will set up a proposal based on what we can do for you in the design, alignment and technical areas.Noted on the multilingual bit. I will get back to you shortly. Naturally we had time to have a more in depth look at the site and found the task of content management to be a little bit more than originally estimated. This is not a problem and we can manage it all in a way that no content is taken away but rather positioned neatly and does not serve to obstruct a conversion / email enquiry or booking.  Your existing website designer does have a point and this has been noted for the reasons of rank positioning however we don’t allow this restriction to stop us delivering visuals that look orderly and engaging.
Please take a look through the proposal to be honest most of it is standard but the comments and design approaches offer substance in our
overall proposal at this stage. Please let me know how this sits your end and hopefully if all is well we can progress to the next stage.
