1, I am writing to enquire about a junior position within your company, apprenticeship or otherwise. If it is the case that you are interested in taking on an apprentice, I have spoken to a few companies and it is likely that I would be able to secure a placement with a training company.
I am a 20-year-old male and I’ve just moved to the Southend area. My goal is to eventually become a software developer, but I would like to become a web developer first as I think it will be a good introduction and provide me with a strong skill set as a basis for software development. I am under no illusions that it takes years to gain the right experience, but I already have some experience with various software and I would like to find a lifelong career in the IT industry so I am willing to dedicate a lot of my time and effort to somebody who is able to help me accomplish this.
I have approximately 3 years of experience working with Adobe Photoshop in my spare time and roughly 8 years experience working with image manipulation software. I have learned the basics of Autodesk 3D Studio Max and Maya as well as Cinema 4D. My first experience of programming was writing basic html on the website ‘MySpace’ for about 3 years from the age of 12. Since then programming has always been an interest, but I have found it more beneficial until recently to work on other skills, so I have written html using notepad just to remind myself of the process and slowly gained knowledge of how the system works. Recently I have been studying the systems behind web design and software engineering in more depth and I have experimented with writing basic programs in various languages. For example, a calculator written as a C# console application in Visual Studio. I will admit that I currently do not possess enough knowledge to undertake an entire project on my own, however I also have experience helping friends with their websites and programs. I have also come into contact with somebody recently who is a professional Perl programmer, he has designed his own language based on Perl for handling server information and he has told me that, once I am comfortable with the basics of the Perl language, he is willing to teach me what he knows. I produce electronic music and I am very comfortable making a wide variety of genres as well as sound effects.
I know it is not imperative that somebody possesses all of the aforementioned skills to become a web developer, however I believe that it helps a lot to have as wide a skill set as possible. I am also aware that I do not possess a lot of the skills required to be a professional web developer, but I am contacting you in the hope that I am able to learn what I need to and turn my hobbies into a rewarding career. 2, I have completed an NVQ level 2 and 3 in accounting AAT. I then completed one year work experience in an accounting environment where I had to manually complete invoices, book-keeping, internal control i.e chasing payments via emails and letters. Even though I can see you have some proven writing skills I would ask you to choose a local business from the a small selection of the websites below that we look after and to give me an article (>300 words) describing / promoting their business. I will reserve the right to use the text as publicity for them regardless of if I offer you some part-time work or not. I assume you will work from home and have a PC / Laptop and some word processing software (like Word)

We have two types of work for webcopy
You will be given a website with some notes on the business and be asked to create typically 10 pages of text relating to their business and services
Proofreading / updating / adding to existing text on a website.
The rules on webcopy is that they must be 100% unique / relevant / search engine friendly. Can you also give me some idea about how long it would take you to create a 3000 word (10 page) webcopy project for a new website where you are given notes / guidance. You would be expected to look at comparable websites to ‘learn’ about the business then write about them in a unique / relevant / interesting way.
3, I have just finished studying at Beauchamps High School in Wickford. I am seeking an apprenticeship placement in Web Development. Would there be any openings within your company for me? Alternatively if you cannot offer me an apprenticeship place then I would love get some work experience as it will benefit me and hopefully your company also.
At this current moment I have only created basic websites at school but web development is my chosen field of work so I am keen to gain an apprenticeship so that I can build on my knowledge. I have also made enquiries into weekend courses for web development which are due do start in September so that I can further build on my knowledge.
4, I’m 17 years old and im just about to finish sixth form. In sixth form I study IT and i would love to progress further in this. The grade I will achieve when i finish the course will be distinction. The course name is Btec National level 3 IT.
