Just a few comments we recently made for our client’s to help them think about their websites and how they can improve them:
1, Old website written with Tables with an outdated CMS system – Converting the old table code would be one thing I would suggest needs doing but on its own I see this as not the best use of any time / money spent on the site – the Site now has an outdated CMS system that isnt SEO friendly and has a wordpress site that doesn’t look / work like the rest of the site – going back to the original ‘Final’ SEO review the recommendations are still the same – I would suggest a full redesign / rewrite which would enable your site to work without Flash (so it looks and works on non-flash enabled browsers, Iphones and Ipads) Your CMS system is a big handicap for you and the sooner its removed / updated the better for you. You can have a ‘static’ website with a customised wordpress blog or you can have the whole site put within wordpress to allow you to update each page easily.
2 Website not on Google Places -Have you done anything in the past to upset Google? We have re-reviewed the places entry and its 100% correct, I have changed a few things around so its exactly the same as other phuket dive companies that I have got working, one thing that you can do is go to your google places entry (google account) and move the ‘marker’ to your exact location (street map), your details are correct and almost identical to similar phuket based companies that show up so I really dont know why its not working for you. We really have gone out of my way to get this sorted indeed the listing is live and is working but not showing when you search for anything meaningful on maps (apart from your website name) its possible that Google have penalised you for something – so the listing is live and showing but we need it showing when you search for scuba diving in phuket and similar – you know I have got other Phuket and UK Dive companies Google Places so there should be no doubt that we know what we are doing.
We have asked one of your clients to add a review of the places listing and we added another photo and also added a question to Google’s Webmaster help section and hope to get a Google Employee to phone me back as I spoke to them on the phone today and they said they would get someone from ‘Google Places’ to phone me back to discuss my problem.
3, Website on a customised CMS System needing some TLC – Just had a update / review of the site – seems you have fixed the paypal button now, my observations / changes, all can be tweaked / removed as you see fit.
1, updated title banner – made the text on it an image using photoshop, the grey better matches the photo but the blue font can be used if you prefer
2, changed font on some text in shipping page to match the rest of the page.
3, Checked paypal buttons all ok
4, As you are using a customised CMS system (Jimdo) its not possible to change the code to make it w3c compliant
5, changed text on links page
6, added idc-guide as a link on links page
7, added relevant page title – used a generic title that should attract more search traffic (previously page titles were simply ‘tibby adapters’
8, the settings dont allow changes to different page titles but only create one ‘generic’ page title (this is not good)
9, added my website design company link
Additional thoughts about website –
Submit a free advert / article to put on the IDC Guide news page as this will be valuable for you.
I believe the site is not flexible enough to allow customisation for code or for SEO technical stuff and would advise moving to a ‘standard’ website. We can do this we can copy the complete website as it is and transfer it to ‘standard’ website, you would need to organise the transfer with jimdo – it will take about 2 hours for us to do the transfer (may need a new contact form also)
