A quick lesson in why you should renew your website on time

[Website Designers] Glad you replied, we have been emailing you every week since your domain expired. You will need to pay the transfer fee and another hosting fee if you want us to put it live again, as soon as the money is paid / transferred we will put the site back and allow the transfer.
[Website Owner] ok i just pay the transfer fee but in the mean time i suggest you remove the site in place of Essex building services cause I think your find its illegal, cause when customer looks for Essex building services they find an adult site.
[Website Designers] Thanks, for payment for transfer and hosting overdue payment. I now know what your talking about with the adult site – had no idea about that and no control over it – your domain has expired and we still have the chance to renew it for you we can then transfer it for you – have requested the hosting and transfer fee (discounted) but you have paid only half of it so far. What do you want to happen with the domain ? tell me exactly and I will tell you the best way forward.
Additionally I asked about the website company you are now working with as we have had some bad experiences with them in the past, they actually register their client’s websites in their own name and on at least one occassion they have ‘absorbed’ the website when a request to take it back has been received. If you tell me how they contacted you and why you went with them I would be willing to share a helpful tip about that company with you as one of my previous clients has had dealings with them.
Just found this out – we dont have any control of the holding page that Nominet use when a website expires, it appears as your website has the word ‘Essex’ in it the system things the site is an adult ‘sex’ website as its picking up the ‘sex’ part of Essex. Bizarre and was pretty shocked myself to be honest.
[Website Owner] Dont think we owe anymore money though, surely this is a rip off?
[Website Designers] Why would you say that? have made the changes very clear and you let your website lapse after multiple reminders really don’t know what are you talking about? I resent that remark and have no desire or need to ‘rip you off’. I run one of the most successful website design companies in Essex and have never ripped anyone off. Quite the contrary, and as a funny co-incidence I was going to ‘gently’ advise you about a potential rip-off that you have now opened yourself up to by dealing with a part-time website design company that has been known to act less than ‘legally’ with other people’s websites. Unfortunately it appears my advice is not welcomed. Regarding you thinking we are going to ‘rip you off’ I can only think you have got the wrong end of the stick here. I am not responsible for the website that is now in place as you didn’t reply to my emails to renew your website on time. I told you that it would be a cost to renew and host your website and re-upload the site for you, you sent only half of the cost requested and agred. We can continue with the renewal / hosting renewal and transfer if you complete the payment of another payment.
I really think you are way off the mark here and have no idea what you really are talking about. After all the hours I have spent trying to help you it seems you still think you are within your rights to withhold payment after we completed the project – have a look at the emails going back 3 years to see how much I have gone out my way to help you with advise. I always believe the customer is right but you are being really unreasonable and not taking any of our helpful advice, we always want to help you but it appears you dont want to listen and help yourself. Review all the emails you have sent and received from us over the years about every concern and worry you had and you will see we go beyond the ‘extra mile’ to make things clear for you.
In terms of being ripped off you have so far renegaded on a deal to build you a directory website after paying only ¾ of the agreed cost, you then decided to pay your hosting in two halves keeping us waiting months it now seems like you have decided to pay only half the requested amount for the hosting and closing of your account despite me making a discount for you.
If you review the emails and time and effort I have put into helping you and advising you on your websites (as I have just done) you will realise that you have been given the best advice and if you review all your questions and my lengthy and thorough replies you will realise that I have probably saved you thousands (affiliate adverting / copyrighted text etc.)
As an ‘aside’ if you google search ‘essex plumbing’ the first (top) organic or natural result is one of our clients, these came to us 2 years after you did and are in the same business sector as you I hope you can see what we are capable of and hope that reassures you that we are a professional website design company
